Nursing Home Quilts Committee

Becky Barnes
Committee Chair

At least three nursing homes in the New Bern
area are the lucky recipients of quilts each month from the guild.

The guild members make "Lap Quilts" that are approximately 40" x 40".  Most patients leave them on their bed or wrap the quilts around their shoulders.

The guild members also make walker bags and  "Fidget Quilts." A fidget quilt is similar to a busy box that infants play with.  The quilts are made with different texture fabrics, beads on strings, zippers and pockets that allow patients to play or fidget with.  These quilts are generally used in the Alzheimer wards.  They are a smaller quilt, about 20"x 25".
